Our Bees

The bees we keep are Carniolan Honeybees and bees that come from American Survivor Stock. Carniolan honeybees are from Slovenia and the area between the Adriatic and Black Seas. They’re gentle bees that are able to survive longer winters like those in South Dakota.

Survivor Stock refers to bees that have a diverse background and have “survived” winters, pests, and disease. Each generation passing on the genes that have given the bee the ability to make it through local environmental conditions.
